AC Milan Have Enough Talent To Challenge Juventus For The Serie A Title

Everybody has been talking about AC Milan over the past few weeks. The Serie A giants have been one of the most active teams during the current transfer market. And as a result, they have completed an incredible makeover that should make them one of the top teams in Italy next season.

The Italian club has spent more than $200 million during the summer in an effort to improve the squad. And they should look like a far better team on both sides of the ball. If we analyze them on every position, we will see the team has taken huge leaps on their way to becoming respectable again.

For instance, let’s look at the defense. Milan needed to add both depth and quality on their defensive end, and they certainly accomplished that with their arrivals. They secured the services of Ricardo Rodriguez from Wolfsburg, Matteo Musacchio from Villarreal, and Andrea Conti from Atalanta. The biggest prize, however, was the signing of Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus.

Bonucci’s signing should mark a precedent not only for Milan but for the rest of the Serie A as well. It was the best proof that Milan could attract world-class players, and what better to snap him away from one of their rivals? With the signing of the Italy international, Milan got much better defensively while also weakening Juventus’ best unit. That’s a double win for the San Siro side.

Milan also added some much-needed talent in midfield and on the attack. Franck Kessie and Lucas Biglia joined to add tenacity in midfield. Hakan Calhanoglu will give the team some much-needed creativity in the final third. And Andre Silva comes from Porto to improve the club’s goalscoring record. Andre Silva certainly represents a massive upgrade over Carlos Bacca and Gianluca Lapadula, Milan’s two attacking options last season.

The scenario is quite positive if we consider Milan have a lot of room for improvement. They didn’t qualify for the UEFA Champions League this past season, and that should be their minimal objective this year. But they can be even better in the 2017-18 campaign. The new players need to gel and get used to playing together. But there is potential here. And Milan can definitively challenge Juventus for the Serie A crown.

Juventus have been the best team in the league over the past decade, and Milan has been forced to settle for a secondary role. But that’s about to change this year. The new signings will give Milan a boost, and they are one of the top candidates to win the Serie A title next season.
