Borussia Dortmund should be one of the most exciting teams in Europe next season. “The Yellow Bees” have endured the loss of important players in recent years, but somehow they have managed to stay relevant. And that should be the case again in the 2017-18 campaign.
Dortmund has lost players such as Robert Lewandowski, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gündogan, as well as former head coach Jürgen Klöpp, in recent seasons. Mario Götze and Shinji Kagawa also left, but they returned shortly after their departures. It is hard to stay relevant considering all those losses. However, Dortmund has accomplished the goal, and they have lofty goals for next season as well.
First of all, Dortmund got rid of Thomas Tuchel following his disappointing campaign. His replacement is quite intriguing, as Dortmund have appointed Peter Bosz as their head coach for the next five seasons. As you might remember, Bosz carried Ajax to the UEFA Europa League final next season. And he could easily do better considering Dortmund’s loaded roster. The team is well equipped, but they are also positioned to be successful over a long period of time.
It only takes a quick look at the team’s roster to realize that. Most of the best players are quite young. And if the management finds a way to keep them all together for an extended period of time, they could become a European powerhouse in no time.
Let’s start with Ousmane Dembele. The French winger could easily rival Pierre Emerick Aubameyang for the title of the team’s best player.

Aubameyang is not far away, though. The Gabon star has been a goalscoring machine since joining Dortmund, and last season he topped the Bundesliga scoring chart with 31 goals in 32 matches.
It is easy to see why Real Madrid wants him. But Dortmund should do everything they can to keep him on the squad for the foreseeable future.
There is also Christian Pulisic, one of the best CONCACAF players who is only 18 years old. The American phenom is considered one of the top young talents in Europe, and he has made his way to the first team thanks to a meteoric rise over the past two years.
It is an impressive collection of talent, but we are not done yet. We haven’t mentioned Marco Reus, Sokratis Papasthatopoulos, Marc Bartra, Götze, Roman Bürki or any of the new signings, such as Mahmoud Dahoud or Omer Toprak.
Aside from the regular starters, Dortmund has several youngsters who could turn heads sooner than later. Alexander Isak, Felix Passlack, Erik Durm and Emre Mor are names worth watching in a few more years.
With such a deep squad, there is no question Dortmund have a bright future ahead of themselves. They are building something special, and at the very least hey will be entertaining to watch next season.
