Kylian Mbappe Would Be A Massive Signing For Liverpool

Liverpool are the latest team to keep a close eye on the situation regarding Kylian Mbappe. The AS Monaco star forward is not available for transfer, but Jurgen Klopp wants to bring him to Anfield Road. And he’ll do whatever it takes to sign him.

According to Daily Mail and as reported by Football Transfer News, The Reds are now officially involved in the race to sign the coveted French prospect. Let’s remember Mbappe burst onto the soccer scene abruptly this year, going from a young player with decent upside from an out-of-this-world talent who’s widely considered one of the best prospects in the world. Yes, you read that right.

That’s what happens when you score 28 goals and eight assists in 44 matches across all competitions as an 18-year-old. Those numbers are impressive for anyone in a league as tough as the Ligue 1. But even more for someone his age. He’s doing things 18-year-old players shouldn’t be able to do. As a result, the race to sign him is heating up.

Monaco have not given any indication that they plan to sell him, but let’s be realistic. Mbappe is a world-class player who is not going to spend his entire career in France. He’s good enough to play in La Liga or the English Premier League, and could start for a contending team right away. But at the same time, Monaco know they have a diamond in the rough in Mbappe. They are not going to sell him cheap, and that could push Liverpool away from a potential bidding war.

Knowing Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Manchester City are involved shouldn’t scare Liverpool fans, but they must know there’s a high chance Mbappe ends up signing elsewhere. Monaco have reportedly asked for a $100 million transfer fee, and it’s difficult seeing Liverpool paying that price. But is he worth the risk? Absolutely.

Mbappe would give Liverpool their first world-class striker since Luis Suarez left to sign with Barcelona. He would improve the side automatically, and his sole presence would scare opposing defences away. Knowing his pace and scoring ability, the French star would form an impressive attacking trio next to Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho. That attacking unit could be what Liverpool needs to push themselves over the top in the EPL.

He’s going to be hard to get, and there’s a high chance he never suits up for The Reds in his career. But Liverpool needs to do everything in their power to bring Mbappe to Anfield Road. He’s the piece the puzzle needs if the team wants to contend – seriously – for an EPL title in the near future.
