Kyle Korver Is Exactly What The Cavaliers Needed

The Cleveland Cavaliers are doing everything they can to keep pace with the Golden State Warriors.

Considering the Mike Dunleavy experiment didn’t work, the Cavaliers needed to add a perimeter threat and that’s what they did the past week. The current NBA champions traded for Kyle Korver from the Atlanta Hawks, boosting both their bench and their offense in a big way. Dunleavy left the Cavs and signed with the Hawks as part of the deal.

This is a very good move from the Cavaliers. Even though Korver isn’t a sexy name by any means, he knows how to get the job done. He’s also a reliable shooter from deep. The 35-year-old is averaging 9.5 points and shot 40.9 percent from 3-point range in 32 games this season. He will immediately boost Cleveland’s bench and scoring in the second unit.

Numbers aside, Korver is going to fit really well with how Cleveland plays. Kyrie Irving and LeBron James are at their best when they drive towards the rim, as they can either score on their own or pass the ball towards a permiter player. With Korver stationed in the three-point arc, opposing teams will have a hard time defensively. Opposing defenses can’t take him for granted, but they can’t give too many space near the rim either. If he meshes well, then it’s going to be a win-win situation for Cleveland.

LeBron didn’t get the point guard he feels the team needs to add. However, the Cavs have a new weapon to play with. And James should be pretty happy with the addition of the veteran sharpshooter. Korver will make Cleveland an even more dangerous team offensively.

And that’s going to make them an even more dangerous team come playoff time.
