Do it for Gerrard - The Reds Roundup for April 30, 2015

Four games left. With Gerrard wanting to finish his Liverpool career on a high, hopefully the Reds can pull something together for the old man before we send him off to LA LA land. It was a rough game vs. Hull, but for Stevie G we need to start putting some balls in the net.

Hey remember when you were benched for Brad Jones?

Hull Crap:

It’s tough to be a Reds fan. It’s been a while since the last title and after last year’s second place finish, who knows when we’re going to be in the title-mix in the near future. FSG looks committed to the future, but after this week’s lost to Hull, it looks like well be missing out on Champions League football once again. The Reds looked ok during this game, but really didn’t turn it on until going down 1-0, and they were unable to finish once again. The same people that have been performing at the top of their game recently looked on form once again (Coutinho, Mignolet, Henderson) but Balotelli still looks like he does not belong on the field with the rest of the team. It looks like the team isn’t even moving when he gets the ball because they know he’s going to shoot it erratically or give it away. Plus, the goal was definitely his fault because he has never hustled in his life and kept Michael Dawson onside for an open header. I don’t know if Rodgers thinks that he can turn it around and put some in the net, or if he’s just trying to show people a bit more of him before selling this summer (it better be the latter). We’re headed into another important summer transfer window where we’ll need to purchase a few top level players in order to compete next season. The jury on Rodgers is still out, and with Jürgen Klopp leaving Dortmund, who knows who will be leading the charge next season.

Liverpool vs. QPR:

Liverpool take on the Hoops Saturday morning, and hopefully the Reds can pick it back up for this game. They’ve scored only 1 goal in the last 3 games, and someone needs to step up in Sturridge’s absence. There’s only 3 games left in the season after this one – Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Stoke. I am for going to keep my hopes up and will be aiming for 3 wins out of these final 4 fixtures, even though they are going to need a big attitude adjustment for these last few weeks. I would like to compete in the Euro tourney next year, and there’s still a slight chance at Champions League competition, so this is no time to play with our heads down. CMON YOU REDS!!!

Around the interwebs:

  • Liverpool announce the nominees for goal of the season.
  • Poor Jon Flanagan. The youngster is out for ANOTHER 6-9 months.
  • Rodgers is shutting Sturridge down for the season.
  • Kolo Toure could join the rest of the aging stars in the MLS
  • Memphis Depay may snub United for a chance with the Reds. This would be a great first signing of the summer!
  • Glen Johnson most likely out this summer.
