Beat Me at Fanduel- 4/24/15

Fanduel is offering a once in a lifetime trip if you win the 4/24 mlb challenge.  A trip to Vegas to go to the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight.  All for a two dollar entry!  Sign me up.

FanDuel Daily Fantasy League Competitions. For this game, you have a salary cap of $35,000.  The trick is to find the most bang for your buck, remembering that some positions cost more than others.  Nine positions are in your lineup, here is mine. New to Fanduel? Click Here.

Pitcher- Alex Wood, Atlanta ($8,200)  Pitcher is the most expensive position in the fanduel game, with Felix Hernandez carrying the highest price tag at $11,500.  I originally chose King Felix, but I felt that hampered my offense too much.  Wood brings good value, and has the potential to get plenty of strikeouts.  You are also chasing a win with this pick, and who better to go against than a Phillies team that can’t hit.

Catcher- Yadier Molina, St. Louis ($3,000) Already, I’m making a sacrifice, as Molina is ranked in the middle tier of catchers.  But you know he’ll get in the lineup, and I am hoping for a couple of knocks out of the veteran.  You can easily talk me into Buster Posey in this spot as well, especially in Colorado.  He costs $4,400.00, which will weaken you elsewhere.

First Base- Prince Fielder, Texas ($3,700)  Tremendous value here.  Fielder hasn’t been hitting with his old power yet, but he’s hitting .367 on this young season.  Just like in the season game, there’s enough depth at first base that you can afford to go down the price list a little bit.

Second Base- Daniel Murphy, New York Mets ($2,900)  If you want to win, you have to hit the long shots.  The best bet is playing the matchups, and playing hunches.  Murphy is my hunch play.  He hit .348 against the Yankees in 2014, and should be good tomorrow night in that bandbox in the Bronx.  Plus, defense doesn’t count in fantasy baseball

Shortstop- Brad Miller, Seattle ($2,500)  Clearly, I decided to punt middle infielders on this squad.  That being said, Miller could be a sneaky good play.  He’s riding a six game hitting streak, batting .500 during that span.

Third Base- Josh Donaldson, Toronto ($4,300) This is the position I invested in.  Donaldson is off to a monster start in Toronto, seeing tons of fastballs in front of Jose Bautista.  He is the best choice by far at the third base position, making him the best investment.

Outfield- Matt Holliday ($3,500), Curtis Granderson ($3,000), Billy Hamilton ($3,900).  Holliday can always be counted on as a steady hand.  I am plugging him in without a second thought.  Granderson is my second hunch play.  He loves hitting in Yankee stadium, and I am hoping for a dinger (or two).  Since you get two points for a stolen base, I am rolling with Hamilton even though he is hitting below the Mendoza line.  Jon Lester’s struggles with holding runners on have been well documented this season, so if Hamilton can get on base, the stolen bases should keep on coming.
