Are the Clippers playing their best basketball at the right time?

The Clippers have proven that they can play some of their best basketball at just right time.

During this current NBA season, they ranked 4th in the NBA with an average of 106.7 points a game and enjoyed a .683 winning percentage. They currently hold the number three seed in the western conference as they head strongly into the playoffs. At the end of the regular season, they had a seven game winning streak which enabled them to clinch a playoff spot and they are poised to play the always challenging San Antonio Spurs to kick off the first round of the playoffs.

The Clippers have numerous weapons to help them play their best basketball at the just the right time. Led by Chris Paul, who averaged 10.2 assist per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 19.1 points per game this season, this superstar’s efforts will be needed in order for the Clippers to get through San Antonio. Even though he only played 62 of the 82 games this season, Paul contributed with all-star statistics and is a leading face of the franchise.

DeAndre Jordan, who averaged a very low 0.7 assist per game, still led the NBA in rebounds per game with 15 and added 11.5 points per game which can give the Clippers a much needed boost. The Clippers have a very solid core and this season was one of their best. Blake Griffin, in his usual fashion, continues to shine as an all-star caliber player this year. Chris Paul was and still is a possible candidate for MVP in my opinion, but the consistent and skilled play from perennial stars such as Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden will likely overshadow the importance of Paul’s determined efforts.

Many fans felt that the Clippers were going to have a great season from the start. They only had 11 losses before January 2015 and the rest of the season they only had 15 more losses to lead them to a strong 56-26 record. The Clippers have also shown their versatility and ability to perform great feats from an individual and team standpoint. From game winning buzzer beaters to amazing dunks, They entertain and know how to win when it counts.

Their shooting has also been solid and they continue to come up with wins and late game heroics that have allowed them to enjoy a near 60 win season. Blake Griffin can dunk as good as anyone and has surprised some with his amazing in-the-paint shots. His powerful presence, while sometimes overshadowed by other NBA stars playing for big market teams, is always a threat to be a game changer. Chris Paul can dunk, make layups, mid range shots, and drill three pointers. Overall, the Clippers have a talented and solid team and can do what needs to be done to plow through the playoffs against the NBA’s best.
