The vibe in San Francisco is just a little bit different than anywhere else. Things that could get you thrown a side eye in other cities can laud you a hero in San Francisco.
There’s no arguing the fact that with Madison Bumgarner on the mound, there was no other way the 2014 World Series could have ended. After 21 masterfully pitched innings in the World Series, MadBum’s team was the world champs and he was their MVP. Since to the victor go the spoils, Bumgarner was given the task of delivering the championship banner to its rightful spot in AT&T Park. And in a move that just set the bar, he rode that banner in on a horse.
Was it overkill? Maybe. Did the horse have the Giants logo painted on his behind? Obviously. Can we not help but smile and be eager to see the year in store for Bumgarner? Most definitely.
