Chievo 1 (7-8-12)
Palermo  0 (8-11-8)
Full Time

Week 28 of the Serie A season featured a match-up between Chievo Verona and Palermo from the Bentegodi in Verona. Palermo came into this match in an ugly spell of form as Chievo would come in fresh off of a 2-0 win over Genoa last week. The action kicked off in the 35th minute as Alberto Paloschi would receive through-ball from Meggiorini and slot it into the back of the net for Chievo’s first. Chievo would have a chance to double their lead as Palermo conceded a very unfortunate penalty kick off of a hand-ball. Paloschi would step up to the spot and send his attempt flying over the right post. Palermo went on to control 60% of the ball and look dangerous in multiple occasions. In the end, Palermo didn’t have enough to put anything on the board and their poor run of form would continue. Paulo Dybala will have to do better if he wants to end up in Barcelona one day.

AC Milan  3 (8-11-8)
Cagliari  1 (4-9-14)
Full Time

Patience has been wearing thin for AC Milan fans this year after major consistency problems throughout the year have them sitting in 10th place. A game against Cagliari could be all the Rossoneri needed to break out of their slump. The first goal would come from none other than Jeremy Menez who would hit a powerful finesse shot for his 14th goal of the year. The second goal would come from Cagliari off of a great counter-attack that would lead to a goal from Farias off of some poor defending from Philippe Mexes. Minutes later, Mexes would redeem himself with a wonderful volleyed shot off of a corner kick to make the score 2-1 for Milan. In the 76th minute, Alessio Cerci would be fouled outside of the box but be called as a penalty for Milan. Menez would step up and convert his league-leading 8th goal from a penalty.

Empoli  3 (5-15-7)
Sassuolo  1 (7-11-9)
Full Time

Empoli vs. Sassuolo looked to be a promising match-up of two young teams with plenty of talent. We were able to see just that as we saw plenty of chances for both sides in the first half. The second half would be when things heated up with Empoli’s Saponara making a create direct run down the middle of the pitch before hitting home the first goal in the 46th minute. Sassuolo would equalize with an unlucky own goal from Rugani. Samponara would strike again by finding his big man Mchelidze for the 2-1. Saponara would not be done yet as he would also score a third goal to wrap the game up.

Juventus  1 (19-7-1)
Genoa  0 (9-10-7)
Full Time

The Juventus Genoa game had a very calm approach to it as both teams did not seem too hungry to win. The play was very good and skillful from both sides but there was not any hunger or determination from either side. The lone goal would come off an incredible piece of play by Carlos Tevez who would hit a powerful shot into the net.

Napoli 1 (13-7-7)
Atalanta  1 (5-10-12)
Full Time

The first half in this match was a pretty dull affair and most of the action happened in the second half where Atalanta’s Gomez was sent off for two yellow cards. Napoli did not seem to want to kill the game off even with the one-man advantage and played fairly conservatively. Eventually, a blunder/non-call on Napoli’s Henrique would lead Atalanta to score a simple goal with Pinilla. Napoli would then wake up and throw on all their offensive weapons and score a goal late on to tie it up.
