Westbrook continues to make his late season case for MVP as the Thunder pull out another win. The veterans show that they’re still a prominent force in the league and can put up big points, and one hot headed rookie lets an elbow fly followed by an ejection.
Let’s get to the games:
Chicago Bulls | 105 | (39-25)
San Antonio Spurs | 116 | (39-23)
Final |
Tony Paker showed tonight why he is still on of the most effective guards in the league as he scores 32. The Bulls couldn’t get anything going as they suffered from 20 turnovers combined. Pau Gasol did everything he could with 23pts and 15rebs but he couldn’t do it alone and the Bulls fall 105-116
Los Angeles Clippers | 98 | (40-23)
Golden State Warriors | 106 | (49-12)
Final |
Curry had a slow night for the first time in a while with only 12pts, but Draymond Green stepped in and racked up 23pts and 6asts. Along with Klay Thompsons 21pts, the Warriors pulled away in the second half despite Austin Rivers having an impressive outing and leading the team with 22pts. The Warriors would go on to win this game 106-98.
Charlotte Hornets | 108 | (28-33)
Detroit Pistons | 101 | (23-39)
Final |
The Pistons continue to come up short as they fell 101-108 tonight. They started out very well and seemed to have it together as they went into the locker room 62-54 at the half on the shoulders of Reggie Jacksons 21pt preformance. However, Charlotte continued to work together and proved their worth as all five starters had double digit points for the fifth time in six games and would take this one 108-101.
Boston Celtics | 98 | (25-36)
Orlando Magic | 103 | (21-43)
Final |
Maurice Harkless got what looked to be well deserved extra minutes tonight and made his presence felt with 14pts, 7rebs. Victor Oladipo’s 22pt night led the Magic to a 103-95 victory. The Celtics bench played well, accounting for 40pts with Isaiah Thomas filling the role left by Marcus Smart after a flagrant elbow that got him ejected.
Utah Jazz | 95 | (26-36) | |
Brooklyn Nets | 88 | (25-36)
Final |
This young Jazz team continues to impress as Favors, Hayward, and Exum combined for 60pts in a 95-88 contest. The road trip proved almost effort-less for a Utah team that is clearly on the rise, but it’s just too late in the season for this run to make much of a difference. The Nets have been sputtering for a few games now as they collect their third straight loss. Brook Lopez made his return to the starting lineup and finished with 19pts that Thaddeus Young had no problems matching. Unfortunately though, the rest of the roster made little to no impact and that is what caused them to fall.
Toronto Raptors | 104 | (38-25)
Oklahoma City Thunder | 108 | (35-28)
Final |
Nobody seems to have an answer for Russell Westbrook who had another monster triple-double tonight (30pts, 17asts, 11rebs). Serge Ibaka and Enes Canter scored 21 a piece to hold on for a 108-104 thriller in OKC. It’s possible that MVP Kevin Durant will be back in the next couple of games which may be the extra piece they need to make a deep playoff run. Overall it seemed that Toronto had a handle on this game, until a very slow 18pt third quarter that left them struggling to gain back the lead and in the end they just didn’t have enough time. OKC wins 108-104.
Dallas Mavericks | 100 | (41-24)
Los Angeles Lakers | 93 | (16-46)
Final |
Monta Ellis and the Mavs have had a dreadful past two games, but tonight seemed to turn it all around. Ellis scored 31 and finally looked to be getting back on pace. The Lakers, whom haven’t had a season to write home about, came to play tonight and showed teamwork with 23 total assists. The four man bench was responsible for 36pts, and none of them were strangers to the paint tonight as they outscored Dallas 46-30. All that effort was eventually ruined by a 16pt Fourth quarter and the Mavs clinched this one late 100-93.
