Toronto back on track: NBA Daily Review for March 2

The Raptors took advantage of the 76ers to right their ship, moving 9 1/2 games back of Atlanta in second place. Elsewhere, the Nets upset the Warriors and the Heat got a big win over the Suns.

Final

The Raptors looks to DeMar Rozen to snap a five-game losing streak. Rozen had his best game of the season, scoring 35 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists. Rozen sunk 10 of 10 free throws. Louis Williams came off the bench to score 21 points for Toronto and Patrick Patterson added 15 points. The 76ers created 32 assists as a team with Ish Smith leading with nine. Smith also had a team-high 19 points and Nerlens Noel added 17. Both teams were solid shooting the ball, each having above 50-percent field goal and 40-percent 3-point shooting.

Miami Heat 115 (26-33)
Final

The Heat’s Goran Dragic faced off against his former team for the first time since being traded on shaky terms. Tempers flared on both sides, combing for seven technical fouls and two flagrant fouls. For Phoenix, every starter reached double figures with P.J. Tucker and Eric Bledsoe each scoring 20. Tucker also had 14 rebounds, as Alex Len grabbed 11 rebounds with 10 points. Dragic scored 21 points and Tyler Johnson led Miami with 26 points. The Heat exploded for 39 points in the second quarter and outscored the Suns, 30-24, in the fourth to hold on for the victory.

 

Golden State Warriors 108 (46-12)
Brooklyn Nets 110 (25-33)
Final

Nothing but net, for who else but the Nets. Jarrett Jack sunk a game-winning shot with just a second remaining for Brooklyn to down the Warriors. Jack finished with nine points and Brook Lopez led with 26 points. Deron Williams scored 22 points, but no player record a double-double. The Warriors held a 50-38 rebounding advantage as Draymond Green grabbed 11, but only scored three points. Steph Curry led Golden State with 26 points and Andrew Bogut added 16.

 

Los Angeles Clippers 110 (40-21)
Minnesota Timberwolves 105 (13-46)
Final

The Clippers did what they were supposed to do. DeAndre Jordan grabbed 18 rebounds to reach nine-in-a-row with double digits on the glass. Los Angeles was led by Chris Paul in the scoring department with 26 and he also dished out 14 assists. J.J. Redick hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points, despite being ejected in the fourth quarter. Every Minnesota starter scored in double figures, including Kevin Garnett, who scored 12 — his first double figures game since returning to the Timberwolves. Gary Neal led the team with 19 points, while Ricky Rubio recorded a triple-double of 18 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.

 

New Orleans Pelicans 93 (32-28)
Dallas Mavericks 102 (40-22)
Final

A 25-13 third quarter did the trick for Dallas. Monta Ellis led with 20 points and Rajon Rondo added 19 for the Mavericks, who snapped a five-game New Orleans winning streak. Richard Jefferson added 16 points and Amar’e Stoudemire and Dirk Nowitzki each added 14. For the Pelicans, Norris Cole had 19 points and Eric Gordon added 18, including four 3-pointers.
