Another Top Team Goes Down: NCAA Review for Feb. 24

There were only two Top 25 games yesterday, but that does not mean that the slate was lacking for excitement. Both games came right down to the wire and some NCAA and conference races cleared up. This is the NCAA Top 25 review for Feb. 24th.

Let’s get to the games:

(17) Louisville Cardinals 52 (22-6)
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 51 (12-16)
Final

The ACC race is tightly contested and Louisville maintains their place as a top team, beating Georgia Tech on the road Monday night. Louisville was paced by Terry Rozier’s 22 points and a huge block by Chinanu Onuaku down the stretch, as the Cardinals look to find consistency without dismissed number three scorer Chris Jones. Georgia Tech was led by 13 points from Marcus Georges-Hunt and had a seven point lead at halftime. Georgia Tech looks to rebound against Clemson while Louisville turns their focus to Florida State.

(8) Kansas Jayhawks 63 (22-6)
Kansas State Wildcats 70 (14-15)
Final

For the second consecutive day a Top 10 team was upset by an unranked foe, as Kansas State defeated Kansas on Monday night. Kansas State’s upset was supported by 20 points off the bench from Nigel Johnson and the Wildcats beat the Jayhawks for the five time in 54 games. Perry Ellis scored a game high 24 points and grabbed a game high nine rebounds for the Jayhawks, but the team only shot 39.3% from the field and 2-13 from three point range. Kansas looks to maintain their place as the leader in the Big 12 against Texas while Kansas State looks to upend another top Big 12 competitor as they face Iowa State.
