Arsenal Should Sell Alexis Sanchez As Soon As Possible

One of the biggest transfer stories this summer has involved Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean star forward is reportedly unsettled in Arsenal, and has been trying to force a move away from The Gunners over the past few weeks, but hasn’t been successful.

Things escalated quickly over the past few days, though. Sanchez debuted for Arsenal this season and played 62 minutes during their 0-4 loss against Liverpool this past Sunday. He looked a bit rusty, but that was expected considering he hadn’t played a single game since the Confederations Cup. Another thing was noticeable, though. Alexis needs to leave Arsenal as soon as he can.

It’s not only because Arsenal looked absolutely outplayed by Liverpool, which it happened at Anfield Road. It’s because a player of his caliber can’t play on a team that won’t even feature in the UEFA Champions League this next season. And Alexis has said repeatedly that he wants to play in the Champions League this next season. He already opened the door for a potential departure, but Arsenal have not been willing to meet his demands.

In fact, this Tuesday Alexis submitted a Transfer Request to leave The Gunners. The club denied that report, but it’s clear the Chilean doesn’t want to play for them anymore. And honestly, Arsenal could use the money in case they sell their star forward.

Think about it. Arsenal would receive around €90 million if they sell Alexis in the coming days. With that kind of money, they can easily add two top-tier players to the roster. And it’s not like they need attacking help with the presence of Theo Walcott, Alexandre Lacazette, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Özil, and Danny Welbeck. Sure, losing Alexis would be a huge blow. But they have enough pieces to make up for it.

On the other hand, Arsenal needs to add at least one central midfielder, a central defender, and possibly a left back. They might not be able to target all three due to the inflated market rates this season. But €90M should be more than enough to add at least two competent players on those positions. Arsenal needs to balance the roster, after all. They are not capable of competing with the top dogs in the league with what they currently have.

And the only way to add some serious money to the transfer budget is by selling Sanchez. Even if he joins Manchester City, Manchester United, or other teams in the world. The Chilean wants to leave, the club could use the money, and there are teams interested in his services.

It seems like a match made in heaven. Now Arsenal needs to pull the trigger to complete the move before it’s too late.
