Paul Pogba is Exactly what Manchester United Needs

Manchester United needs to win, and they need to do it now. The post-Ferguson era didn’t work as expected, and following the success that teams such as Chelsea and Manchester City have experienced of late, the Old Trafford side needs to get back to the top of the Premier League standings.

The management started their renewal by inking a deal for Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese manager quickly tried to improve the squad to assemble a more competitive team. Eric Bailly was the first signing, and later Henrik Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined the side. Mou, however, wanted to sign Paul Pogba. The French playmaker is currently contracted by Juventus, but he already played for Manchester United’s academy a few years ago.

It turns out what Jose Mourinho wants, Mourinho gets.

After several weeks of intense negotiations with Juventus, Pogba will join Manchester United. His arrival means Mourinho will sign the one player who can turn Manchester United into an immediate contender in the English Premier League. Pogba has the potential to be even more decisive than Ibrahimovic.

The French is expected to sign with The Red Devils in the coming days, and his versatility will become an asset for the Portuguese tactician. Pogba can line up all over the midfield, but he thrives in a central role. Can you imagine the trio of Pogba, Wayne Rooney and Mkhitaryan playing behind Zlatan? That group would generate nightmares in opposing defenses on a weekly basis.

Nobody knows where will Pogba play. Either as a holding midfielder, as a deep-lying playmaker or even as a trequartista, the French star can make an impact anywhere on the pitch. But there’s no doubt he’s a talented player, as evidenced in highlight videos like this:

Mourinho got his man. The fans will get the star player they’ve wanted the last few years. It’s a match made in heaven, and this could be the move that puts Manchester United to the top of the Premier League. They’ve been there before, and history suggests it shouldn’t be too long before they return there.
