Liverpool lose out on Memphis Depay, but can they take over fourth from United? The Reds Roundup for May 7th, 2015

Liverpool are sitting only 4 points behind United after their home win vs. QPR and United’s home loss against West Brom. Liverpool face the tougher matchup this weekend as they’re away vs. Chelsea, while United cannot afford another slip-up as they’re away at Crystal Palace.

Not enough people available to guard him i guess

Liverpool knocks QPR close to relegation:

It was a critical win for the Reds as their 2-1 win over QPR kept them in the running for the final Champions League spot. Gerrard was the hero once again as his late header sealed the win and gave him another chance to celebrate in front of the Kop in his second to last home game. It was a great goal for Gerrard who had his PK saved just minutes earlier. Rickie Lambert didn’t look great in this game, but he definitely hustled and made chances happen which is more than Balotelli has done all season. Some fans with a bit of extra cash decided that this game would be a good time to fly a banner over the stadium asking for FSG to sack Rodgers and replace with former Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez. I don’t think that’s the answer to our issues, but I do always find humor in these pointless aerial ads.

Red vs. Blue

Liverpool head to Stamford Bridge on Sunday for a huge game against Chelsea. Chelsea has already wrapped up the league so unfortunately (according to tradition) Liverpool are supposed to give them a guard of honor as this is the first game that Chelsea are playing as champions. Mourinho has announced that he’s not a big fan of the guard of honor so hopefully we listen to him and don’t do anything special for them. We have always played Chelsea close this season (2 l1 goal losses, 1 tie) so hopefully we can get that elusive win and possibly gain some points on United. C’mon you Reds!
